Moultonborough scouts are raising money for a big trip. They want to visit Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. This trip will happen in July 2025. It is a very exciting adventure for them.
Two scout groups are working together. These are Scouts BSA Troop 187 and Troop 188. Troop 187 is for boys. Troop 188 is for girls. They are from Moultonborough, New Hampshire.
The trip to Philmont is a high-adventure trek. Scouts will hike in the mountains. They will learn many new skills. This special ranch is a national park for scouts. It helps young people grow.
A total of 12 scouts will go on this trip. There are 5 girls from Troop 188. There are 7 boys from Troop 187. They will also have 4 adult leaders with them. These adults will keep them safe and help them learn.
The trip costs a lot of money. It is about $2,500 for each person. The total cost for everyone is around $40,000. This is a very big goal for the scouts. They need to raise all of this money themselves.
Scouts Work Hard for This Big Trip
The scouts are working very hard. They do many things to earn money. They sell popcorn every year. This is a common way scouts raise funds. They also hold special events.
One recent event was a big yard sale. It happened on Saturday, June 1. The sale was from 8 AM to 1 PM. It took place at the Moultonborough Academy gymnasium. Many people came to help and buy things.
